National & International Community Involvement
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) connects the people of the United Methodist Church to Jesus Christ’s mission of loving our neighbor as ourselves. Many people suddenly find their lives turned upside down by a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, fire, flood or other disaster. Many people live daily with poverty and famine with no access to clean and healthful water.
UMCOR helps all United Methodists to respond to these needs with financial gifts, much-needed supplies, and the physical hands=on work of volunteers to provide recovery help to those who have suffered disaster. UMCOR helps those who face daily challenges, equipping them with materials and education on providing healthy, nutritious meals for each family, or how to pasteurize water, making it safe to drink. UMCOR also teaches communities how to eradicate disease, making them safer places to live. For 80 years, UMCOR has helped the people of the United Methodist Church respond with compassion and practical help to those in need in the United States and all throughout the world. Please explore all the ways UMCOR provides help by exploring their website at www.umcmission.org/umcor.
The FUMC Mission Committee provides vocational training and other educational expenses for a student through the Zimbabwe Outreach Mission. Our donations will be used to ensure that a young girls will learn life-changing skills and empowerment to reach their dreams of economic and cultural emancipation. This crucial training is a weapon against human trafficking, sexual abuse, domestic and gender violence.
Our congregation faithfully supports the work of the Mujila Falls Agricultural Project in Zambia. Missionary Tkemba Nkomozepi operates a large farm to address local food insecurity issues and to provide employment and training for local farmers. Our financial support helps this vital ministry continue.
