Welcome!
At Jackson First UMC, you are part of the family. ALL are welcome here. Come experience the love of God and grow in the kind of faith that will make a difference in your life!

Our Location

Jackson First UMC is downtown at 275 West Michigan Avenue between Jackson and Blackstone, across from the Public Library.

During the week, our doors remain locked. Please ring the bell and our office staff will be happy to buzz you in. Deliveries are possible through the front doors on Michigan Avenue.

Where to Park?

On Sunday morning there is ample free parking with designated handicapped spaces.  You may park in front of the church on Michigan Avenue or in our West lot on the corner of Michigan & Blackstone.  Our South lot is closest to the Welcome Center or you may use the American Title lot across the street (off Cortland).

The American Title lot is not available on weekdays.

What Is the Service Sunday Like?

Sunday morning worship is at 10:30 am.  Our worship features a mixed style of informal/formal dress, traditional/blended liturgy and music, people of all ages/all walks of life in a beautiful setting.

What Is Available for My Children and Youth?

Here at Jackson First, we want to meet the needs of your family!

Our Nursery is open where you can drop your child off with our trusted child care professional. We also provide a play space in Crush Hall for toddlers during worship.

Sunday School is on Summer break and returns September 8, 2024. In the meantime, we encourage children to join us for our Children’s Moment in Worship. Kid friendly Bulletins are available! Just ask for one when entering the Sanctuary!

If you prefer to keep your children with you during worship, an activity bag is available to keep young minds and hands busy as they learn and grow in the faith. These can be picked up when you pick up a bulletin.

Our Sunday School and Nursery rooms can be found right off of the Sanctuary.

Our Youth Group is on Summer break and returns on September 8, 2024.

See https://www.firstumcjackson.org/ministries/ for more details.

Will I Be Singled Out As A Guest?

You won’t be asked to stand to be recognized or to wear a nametag. If you’re comfortable, you can leave us with your name and address on a Connect Card (included in your bulletin) so we can  follow up with you to thank them for coming. Guests are also invited to join us in Fellowship Hall for Hospitality time after worship.  We hope you’ll stop in to receive a warm welcome, a bite to eat, and a cup of coffee or tea.

Will I Be Expected to Give Money?

The ministries of Jackson First UMC are financially supported by voluntary contributions of its members and friends. We do not expect a contribution from our guests but if you’re called to do so, an offering envelope is found in your bulletin or you can give on our website at https://www.firstumcjackson.org/give/

What if I want more information during my visit?

If you’d like more information during your visit, we have Welcome Desks staffed at both entrances. Here you can pick up more information, and a gift (if visiting us for the first time)
