Children's Sunday School

Children's Sunday School

During Sunday worship, children in preschool through 5th grade are invited to participate in Sunday School. In this shared classroom setting, kids explore faith together through stories, conversation, and activities designed just for them.

Child Safety

We take the safety of your children seriously. All Sunday School teachers and Nursery Care staff are Safe Sanctuaries® trained, CPR certified, and have completed a background check. For added security, access to the Education Wing is limited to authorized staff, parents, and legal guardians. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help—please contact us.

We offer nursery care during worship, where infants and young children are cared for by a trusted childcare professional. For toddlers who enjoy room to move and play, a welcoming play space is available during worship.

Youth

Confirmation Class

Confirmation is a meaningful step in a young person’s faith journey—a time to ask honest questions, explore what it means to follow Jesus, and begin to claim faith as their own.

In this class, students will learn the foundations of the Christian faith and the United Methodist tradition through conversation, Scripture, service, and community. We believe questions are holy, doubts are welcome, and growth happens best when young people feel safe, known, and encouraged.

Confirmation is not about having all the answers—it’s about discovering where God is already at work in your life and learning how to respond with faith, love, and purpose. Together, we’ll explore what it means to belong to the church, live out our faith in the world, and say “yes” to God’s ongoing work in us.

This class is open to youth who are curious, questioning, or ready to take the next step in their spiritual journey. Wherever you are, you are welcome here.

Youth Group

Youth in 6th–12th grade are invited to gather each week for connection, fun, and faith as part of our youth group at Jackson First United Methodist Church. On Wednesday nights, youth come together for fellowship and games in a space designed to build friendships and belonging. A dedicated team of adult leaders walks alongside our youth, offering Christian mentorship—while also learning and growing right alongside them.

On Sunday evenings, youth begin at 5:30 p.m. by pulling together the long tables in Fellowship Hall to share a meal and talk about the highs and lows of the week. From there, the evening includes a mix of games, creative activities, mission projects, and spiritual formation that helps youth explore faith in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

Our youth are also encouraged to serve—both within the life of the church through worship leadership and beyond our walls through community service projects. Wherever they are on their faith journey, youth are welcomed, valued, and invited to grow together.
