What If God Is Closer Than You Think?
Have you ever had one of those days where God just feels…far away? Maybe you’re praying, but the words seem to fall flat. Or you’re going through the motions of work, school, or family life and wondering if God is really paying attention.
I think we’ve all been there.
But here’s the good news: the Bible reminds us that God is never as far as we sometimes feel. Acts 17:27 says that God “is not far from any one of us.” In fact, the whole story of Scripture is God moving closer to His people—from walking with Adam and Eve in the garden, to dwelling among Israel in the tabernacle, to sending Jesus to walk this earth, to pouring out His Spirit to live within us.
God doesn’t keep His distance. He draws near.
That means in the everyday moments—making dinner, sitting in traffic, feeling overwhelmed at work, or even sitting in a church pew and struggling to focus—God is present. He hasn’t left. He is closer than you think.
So what do we do with that truth?
We notice Him. Pause and whisper, “Lord, I know You’re here.”
We invite Him in. A simple prayer: “God, help me through this moment.”
We rest in His presence. Trust that He’s here, even when you don’t feel it.
This week, try picking one ordinary task (washing dishes, pouring coffee, driving to work) as a reminder to acknowledge God’s presence.
Because the truth is—He’s closer than you think.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being near, even when I don’t feel it. Help me to notice Your presence in the small, ordinary moments of my day. Draw me closer to You as I walk in trust. Amen.
