Jackie Livesa Organist and Director of Children’s Music Ministries
“Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all his wonderful acts.” Psalm 105:2 Love of church music led Jackie Livesay to earn a Bachelor of Music Degree from Westminster Choir College and a Master of Music Degree from University of Michigan, both in Church Music/Organ. She has been employed in United Methodist Churches for 44 years. Her duties have included playing the organ and piano and directing choirs from pre-schoolers through adults. Additional teacher certifications in Orff-Schulwerk, Gordon Institute of Music Learning, and Education Through Movement have been particularly useful when working with children and youth at First United Methodist Church.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 Jackie Livesay is a firm believer in the value of Christian Education, having grown up in a weekly Sunday School setting as well as receiving excellent instruction in weekly Bible Classes in the public school. Her own children were raised in a vibrant education program at Trinity United Methodist Church, Jackson. She received Education Certification and a Master of Arts in Education from Spring Arbor University. Her experience includes 23 years of public school teaching. Jackie has served on the Education Committee at First United Methodist in the past and is very excited to be part of our current education formation.
